Indian equity benchmarks, the Sensex and Nifty, are likely to open lower on Tuesday, weighed down by fresh concerns over trade tariffs. US President Donald Trump said he plans to substantially raise tariffs on Indian goods over New Delhi’s continued oil imports from Russia. India called the move “unjustified” and said it will take appropriate steps to protect its interests.

GIFT Nifty futures were quoting 38 points lower at 24,755, indicating a cautious start for domestic equities.

The RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, which began on August 4 and continues through August 6, will be closely watched. While some analysts expect a 25 basis-point rate cut, others are eyeing a possible downward revision in the inflation forecast.

In global markets, Asia-Pacific indices were broadly higher, tracking overnight strength in Wall Street. Nikkei rose 0.43 per cent, ASX 200 jumped 1.14 per cent, CSI 300 gained 0.33 per cent, Hang Seng edged up 0.29 per cent, and KOSPI advanced 1.49 per cent.

In the US, key indices closed higher on strong earnings momentum. The Dow Jones climbed 1.34 per cent, the S&P 500 added 1.47 per cent, and the Nasdaq surged 1.95 per cent.

Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports & SEZ, Lupin, Britannia Industries, Alembic Pharmaceuticals

Aarti Surfactants, Berger Paints, Bharti Hexacom, CARE Ratings, Container Corporation, Exide Industries

Gland Pharma, Gujarat Gas, Jindal Saw, NCC, Prestige Estates, Keystone Realtors, Torrent Power

Stocks such as Aurobindo Pharma, Bosch, and DLF may remain in focus after announcing results post-market hours on Monday.

Highway Infrastructure Ltd. opens for subscription in the mainboard segment.

Aditya Infotech and Laxmi India Finance are set to list on the NSE and BSE.

In the SME space, Kaytex Fabrics will debut on the NSE SME platform, while Flysbs Aviation IPO will close for bidding.

Basis of allotment will be finalised today for Cash Ur Drive Marketing IPO and Renol Polychem IPO.
