SIP Calculations: When we calculate future investment return, we often get results such as a Rs 10,000 monthly SIP investment creating a Rs 3 crore corpus in 25 years and a Rs 15,000 monthly SIP investment generating a Rs 2 crore corpus in 15 years. The results may appear soothing to our eyes. But have you ever thought about what the real value of that corpus was was at that time? Inflation rises, so it reduces the value of your corpus. A mere Rs 500 monthly SIP investment in a mutual fund can create an over Rs 1 crore corpus in 40 years, but what will be its real value at that time?
The inflation-adjusted value of that investment can be less, forcing you to fall short of your financial goals.
Here, we present many scenarios to depict the inflation-adjusted value of your investments.
We will also tell the revised amounts that an investor may use to get the same inflation-adjusted corpus.
We will calculate at a 12 per cent annualised growth rate.
The assumed inflation in each case will be 6 per cent.
One can achieve a Rs 3,08,09,732 corpus from a Rs 10,000 monthly SIP investment in 30 years.
However, the inflation-adjusted value of that investment in 30 years will be Rs 61,92,565.
A Rs 31,462 monthly SIP investment can generate an inflation-adjusted estimated corpus of Rs 3,08,46,579 in 30 years.
The estimated corpus generated from a Rs 15,000 monthly SIP in 35 years will be Rs 8,26,62,467.
The inflation-adjusted value of the same amount, however, will be Rs 2,07,04,351.
The monthly SIP value to achieve nearly the same target will be Rs 59,888.
The inflation-adjusted corpus created from this investment will be Rs 8,26,62,811.
Here, we take the example of a lump sum investment.
A Rs 5,20,000 lump sum investment will create an estimated corpus of Rs 1,55,79,159.50..
The estimated one-time investment required will be Rs 29,87,000.
At a 12 per cent annualised return, it can create an inflation-adjusted corpus of Rs 1,55,81,165.65.
The total investment in 40 years will be Rs 2,40,000, estimated capital gains will be Rs 46,56,536, and the estimated corpus will be Rs 48,96,536.
However, the inflation-adjusted value of this investment will be Rs 9,58,482.
The estimated monthly SIP amount required to get the nearly same inflation-adjusted corpus will be Rs 2,555.
