The government has approved a non-auction route for BSNL, MTNL, and ITI to sell their surplus assets to central government departments and public sector entities at market rates.

A committee led by the Cabinet Secretary has cleared this transfer process.

The valuation authority depends on the asset’s worth, with BSNL, MTNL, or ITI setting the price for assets below ₹10 crore, CPWD for assets between ₹10–100 crore, and the National Land Monetisation Corporation for those above ₹100 crore.

Government entities can express interest with a 2% deposit and get the first right to buy within 90 days, after which the assets may be offered to private players.

IT stocks continue to weigh on the market, with Nifty IT leading the losses, falling over 1%.
