Following Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s warning about additional interest-rate cuts and his statement that a drop in December isn’t a given, Asian stocks battled for direction.

 

After a slight increase on Wednesday, Brent was just moving below $65 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was close to $60.

At their summit in South Korea, the presidents of the two biggest economies are anticipated to conclude a trade agreement. Trump may also use the meeting to pressure Beijing to reduce its purchases of oil from Moscow after putting sanctions on two Russian producers.

 

Futures on Wall Street are trading with losses ahead of the all-important meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

GIFT Nifty lower, trading at a discount of over 50 points from Nifty Fut Wednesday’s close, indicates a start in the red for the Indian market

Some of the stocks to watch for the day includes Larsen & Toubro, HPCL, BHEL, SAIL, United Breweries, Brigade Enterprises, CONCOR, Railtel Corporation of India, Mahanagar Gas among others.

The November series got off to a great start for the equity benchmark Nifty 50 index, which opened 46 points higher and continued to rise throughout the day.

The Nifty maintained its upward trend on Thursday following a day of significant volatility on Tuesday, the day of F&O expiry. For the majority of the session, the index remained positively skewed, opening with a 46-point upside gap.
