On Tuesday, March 24, the GIFT Nifty, an early barometer of how Indian markets are likely to start trading, jumped as high as 520 points in early ticks, suggesting a possible recovery from levels close to 12-month lows.

 

After President Donald Trump hinted at a potential defusing of tensions with Iran, US markets saw a robust recovery on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 631 points, or 1.38%, to close at 46,208.47.

 

As energy subsidies reduce expenses, Japan’s inflation slows to 1.6% in February, but rising oil and fuel prices raise the possibility of a fresh cost-of-living crunch.

 

GIFT Nifty extends gains, trading at a premium of nearly 500 pts from Nifty Futures Monday close, indicating a gap-up start for the Indian market

The Nifty 50 index sharply resumed its downward trend after a one-day break, falling more than 600 points, or 2.60%, to close at 22,512, its lowest level since April 9, 2025. The index eventually closed close to the day’s lows after attempts at a bounce failed to hold.
