As investors considered a drop in global stocks, concerns over high tech valuations, and waning hopes of a US interest rate cut, gold steadied.
After closing the previous session up 0.6%, bullion was trading at about $4,070 per ounce.

West Texas Intermediate was below $60 and Brent was trading around to $64 per barrel following a slight decline in the previous session. Days before major producers Rosneft PJSC and Lukoil PJSC were struck by US sanctions, the price of Russia’s flagship crude fell to its lowest point in over two years.

Tuesday’s 500-point decline in the Dow Jones brought the four-day losing streak to nearly 2,200 points. This comes after the index regained 200 points from the day’s lows. After rising 45 and 200 points from their respective session lows, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq concluded the day 0.8% and 1.2% lower, respectively.

The Nifty fell 103 points on Tuesday after hitting a significant psychological barrier close to the 26,000 level after two successful sessions.
