On auto sector: “The icing on the cake, which the government has provided (GST rate cut), if it comes through in the next one or two months, this will augur extremely positive; macro conditions are positive.

RBI has been on a rate cut spree, there is liquidity across, companies’ balance sheets are powerful right now, and with the launch of new models with all these companies, there is a revolution which is also going to come into EV. So, this sector probably will be beneficiary.

Don’t look at the short-term repercussions that the stocks have bounced back. But this probably seems to be getting into a structural, next couple of years, rally – that is what seems right now.”

Bengaluru-based B2B seafood supply chain startup Captain Fresh, which has reclassified itself as a public limited company under the name Infifresh Foods Limited, has filed confidential IPO papers with markets regulator SEBI as it gears up for a public listing. here

Navi-Mumbai-based auto component manufacturer Endurance Technologies expects the proposed goods and services tax (GST) rationalisation on auto components to give a major boost to demand, particularly in the replacement and aftermarket business. here

Shares of JSW Infra Ltd. gained on Tuesday, August 19, as brokerage firm Jefferies projected a 21% upside on the stock. Jefferies maintained its “buy” rating on JSW Infra with a price target of ₹375 per share. The stock ended the previous session at ₹309.1 apiece. here

Investors may not be fully factoring in the risk of fresh US tariffs on Indian exports, according to Robert Subbaraman, Head of Global Macro Research at Nomura Singapore. “My sense speaking to investors overseas… is that if that penalty, 25% tariff does go into effect on August 27, that is not fully anticipated, and so you will see a negative response,” Subbaraman cautioned. here

Former CBIC Chairman Vivek Johri has described the Centre’s proposed GST rate structure as “balanced, bold and hard to reject.” He said the package is largely revenue-neutral, simplifies compliance, and could boost domestic demand, particularly in labour-intensive sectors. Former Chairman Najib Shah added that while the proposal is audacious, states will need assurance that revenues remain stable. Both experts flagged challenges around reclassification of goods and state-level revenue concerns ahead of the GST Council meeting. here

The initial public offering (IPO) of Shreeji Shipping Global Ltd., a provider of shipping and logistics solutions for dry bulk cargo, would be available for subscription from August 19-21. here

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) came out with multiple proposals with regards to the minimum offer size requirements for large IPOs on Monday, August 18. One of those proposals included that issuers with a post-IPO market capitalisation of over ₹5 lakh crore, could reduce their minimum offer size for public shareholders to 2.5% from the current threshold of 5%. Brokerage firm Citi wrote in its note that such a move could have meaningful positive implications for Jio’s potential IPO. here
