Rupee opens at 87.79/$ vs Thursday’s close of 87.84/$

On Friday, October 24, investors will be watching shares of Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL), the biggest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) firm in India, as they respond to the company’s September quarter results, which were released after market hours on Thursday.
In contrast to the 0-1% growth predicted by a CNBC-TV18 survey, HUL’s primary performance indicator, underlying volume growth (UVG), was flat for the quarter.
Following the company’s poor quarterly performance report released after market hours on Thursday, shares of Sagar Cements Ltd. are under scrutiny on Friday, October 24.
The costs associated with the shutdown and the employees were the cause of the quarter’s deterioration.
After a steep drop as the market reevaluated a gain that had driven the commodity into overbought territory, gold is poised to end a nine-week winning streak.
Bullion was on course for a weekly drop of almost 3%, the largest since May, as it remained stable at $4,140 an ounce.

The Nifty made an early attempt to rise after opening with an upside gap of 189 points. Nevertheless, the market encountered a barrier near the 26,100 level, and from the middle until the end of the session, intraday weakness developed.
As index heavyweights fell from their opening highs, the Nifty totally erased its morning gains. The short-term trend is still robust, though.
