The Income Tax Department has advised taxpayers to evaluate and make any necessary revisions to their income-tax returns (ITRs) as the deadline of December 31 draws near, emphasising that prompt changes can help prevent future disputes, penalties, and extended scrutiny.

The advice is a component of the department’s data-driven “NUDGE” campaign for the 2025–2026 evaluation year.

Following BP’s agreement to sell Stonepeak a 65% stake in Castrol at an enterprise value of $10 billion, Castrol India shares have increased by more than 8%.

According to BP, an agreement has been reached to sell a 65% stake in Castrol, resulting in net proceeds of around $6 billion, including accelerated dividend payments. The entire proceeds will go towards lowering net debt.
