In early trading on Wednesday, April 8, the GIFT Nifty, a predictor of how Indian markets are anticipated to open, increased by up to 800 points.
On Truth Social, US President Trump declared that this would be a “double-sided” truce, contingent on Iran consenting to a prompt and secure reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

West Asia War | US and Iran have agreed to a 2-week ceasefire, with Donald Trump stating it will be a “double-sided ceasefire.” He also confirmed that US has received a 10-point proposal from Iran as a basis for further discussions. On the other hand, Iran’s National Security Council has termed this a “historic victory,” claiming it successfully compelled the US to consider its framework for de-escalation.
After testing highs of $116.5 per barrel on Tuesday, US crude oil prices have fallen as much as 13% to fall below $100 per barrel as a result of these desperate actions and Trump’s following declaration. Brent crude ended the day 0.5% down at $109 a barrel, giving up all of its early gains.
