At the WAVES 2025 summit, Shah Rukh Khan took a moment to reflect on his journey, personal challenges, and the resilience that has defined his career.

The Bollywood star opened up about his vulnerability as an actor and how his approach to success has been influenced by both personal and professional setbacks.

SRK and Deepika Padukone were a part of the session The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler moderated by Karan Johar.

He began by recounting a moment from a few years ago when Karan Johar (KJO) brought a script to his house. “A few years back, KJO came to my house with a script and the script required me to wear a skirt throughout the film. That’s when I stepped back from the script for the first time,” SRK revealed.

While talking about women he meets in his life, King Khan mentioned, "I have too much respect for women. I feel genuine love for every woman I meet. I find them gentle, kind and they are connected to nature."

Reflecting on the emotional toll of failure, Shah Rukh spoke about the pressure he feels when his films don’t succeed. “Whenever I have failed, I have felt twice as much because I feel I have let down many people. When a film is not successful, it feels like I have insulted my fans,” he said, emphasising his sense of responsibility towards his supporters.

SRK also talked about his work in general and mentioned, "I don't work for expectations. I work with honesty. I love making people smile and happy"

However, SRK also revealed his method of coping with defeat. “I don’t allow defeat to overtake me. When a film fails, I go to the bathroom and cry,” he admitted. “I have even learned cooking,” he added.

While talking about his kids, the DDLJ actor mentioned, "You can never be lonely if you can make your children laugh. If you don't have kids then make your parents laugh and you will never be lonely"

He concluded his heartfelt reflection with a quote from his iconic film Om Shanti Om, saying, “I feel like the king of the world.” This comment was a response to Karan Johar’s remark about SRK’s resilience.

On the work front, SRK is currently working on his upcoming film King with his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan.

Jr. Bachchan is reportedly playing the antagonist in the film.
