With this, he will also cease to be the key managerial personnel of the company, it added.
Biocon has appointed Shreehas Tambe as the new CEO and MD of the company, with effect from April 1, 2026, and also appointed Kedar Upadhye as the chief financial officer of the firm.
The leadership transition is part of the full integration of Biocon Biologics Ltd. as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Biocon Ltd., creating a simplified and unified corporate structure, the firm said in an exchange filing.
"As the first CEO to lead the combined business, Shreehas brings deep scientific expertise, strategic rigour and a steadfast commitment to advancing affordable healthcare," Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Biocon Ltd.'s executive chairperson, said.
Mittal joined Biocon in 2013. He served as the chief financial officer and later as the CEO and MD of the company. Meanwhile, Tambe, who was previously the CEO and MD of Biocon Biologics, had joined Biocon nearly three decades ago as a management trainee.
"As we expand our portfolio and global presence, my focus will be on strengthening our foundation, consolidating our business and accelerating sustainable growth," Tambe said.
Biocon shares were down 2.4% at ₹370.55 apiece at 12.30 pm on Friday. The stock has declined 4.9% in the past month.
