Park Hee-gon, a South Korean filmmaker best known for his work in Perfect Game, Target, and Insadong Scandal, sadly died at the age of 56.

On April 30, OSEN confirmed his death, but the cause is still unknown. At Myungji Hospital in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, family members and loved ones will say goodbye.

Many internet users expressed their condolences on social media as soon as the news was released, posting sincere remembrances and happy memories of the director. One fan wrote, "We just lost a cinematic legend! Director Park Hee Gon, the mastermind behind hits like Insadong Scandal and Perfect Game, has passed away at 56. The film world feels a little dimmer today."

Another fan commented, "RIP Director Park Hee Gon. His films will be remembered."

Before making a smooth transition to filmmaking, Park Hee-Gon started his career in the entertainment industry as a music video director. His first foray into the film industry was as a scriptwriter, contributing to the 2009 movie Insadong Scandal.

Perfect Game, his next noteworthy project, demonstrated his ability to depict intense, competitive narratives and focused on the legendary rivalry between two Korean baseball pitchers, Choi Dong-Won and Sun Dong-Yeol.

Park Hee-Gon was known for his ability to tackle a wide range of genres throughout his career. He directed the 2018 historical drama Fengshui, followed by the 2021 romantic comedy Catman, showcasing his versatility as a filmmaker. His latest project, Target (2023), starring Shin Hye-Sun, garnered considerable attention, solidifying his position as a director capable of captivating diverse audiences.
