Taking a strategic move to power winter schedule and enhance connectivity, SpiceJet has inducted five additional aircraft on damp lease, taking its total new fleet additions to ten. The latest expansion includes the reactivation of a Boeing 737 MAX, alongside three 'Boeing 737s' and one 'Airbus A340' that were added earlier this year.
The five new aircraft have been incorporated into the fleet and are now operating on commercial basis, SpiceJet to enhance the number of flights and the area served for both the domestic and international routes. This increase of aircraft comes at a very significant moment when passengers are demanding more air travel, particularly during the festive and winter travel seasons.
SpiceJet aims to utilise the expanded capacity to serve high-demand sectors more efficiently and introduce additional routes that enhance travel options for passengers. With these new additions, SpiceJet is expected to offer greater connectivity, punctual services, and improved flight reliability.
SpiceJet has plans to increase its operational fleet by more than twice and to increase its available seat kilometers (ASKM) by three times by the end of November. This bold expansion emphasises the airline's determination to operate on a bigger scale and utilise the capacity better as well as to take a bigger piece of India's competitive aviation market.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer at SpiceJet, emphasized the airline’s growth momentum, he said-
“These inductions mark another significant step in our fleet and network expansion strategy. The response to our new flights has been extremely encouraging, and we remain committed to further strengthening our operations across both domestic and international markets.
He remarked that the present fleet expansion will be one of the factors contributing to making travel better for passengers, besides the other factors like providing passengers with smooth connectivity to India and the world's most important airports.
SpiceJet's this move is a long-term vision to restore its operational power and to expand the market presence. The arrival of new SpiceJet aircraft will help the airline targets to reduce turnaround times, more flights and offer cheaper tickets for the customers.
As India’s aviation sector continues to rebound, SpiceJet’s fleet expansion strategy positions it strongly to meet growing travel demand while reinforcing its status as one of the country’s leading budget carriers.
