Shares of Coal India Ltd. declined on Tuesday, June 1, as the company reported a decline in its production for the month of June and for the April-June quarter as well.

Tata Motors Ltd., the manufacturer of passenger and commercial vehicles reported its sales figures for the month of June on Tuesday, July 1, which were lower across parameters on a year-on-year basis.

Domestic sales for Tata Motors fell 12% from the year-ago period to 65,019 units in June. The company had sold 74,147 units last June.

TVS Motor reported its auto sales numbers for June, broadly in line with street expectations, despite a decline in electric vehicle (EV) sales. The company clocked total sales of 4.02 lakh units in June, registering a 20.5% year-on-year growth compared to 3.34 lakh units in the same month last year.

Indian commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland Ltd on Tuesday reported a 3% year-on-year rise in total vehicle sales for June to 15,333 units, falling just short of a CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of 15,374 units.

The company had reported total sales of 14,940 units in June last year.

Shares of Tata Technologies Ltd. were trading lower on Tuesday, July 1, after global brokerage firm BoFA Securities downgraded the stock to ‘Neutral’, citing an expected 6.5% quarter-on-quarter decline in Q1 revenue due to a pause in ER&D spending.

Our stance has been very clear since February. It was February or mid-February when we went all in and deployed 100% of our cash that we were holding before it into equities.

The triggers for the market – I believe we should see with the relative changes that are there in the Indian market right now we thought that we should hit 26,300, the all-time highs, maybe in the next two to three months.

Defence

We should focus on companies which are now focused on earnings; we have seen the first part of the rally play out, where they were re-rated because they were neglected.

Now, the earnings would catch up. For example, something like a Mazagon Dock, we like a lot; something like Bharat Electronics, we are holding in our portfolio; something like Bharat Dynamics, we are holding in a portfolio – the better ones which are getting orders and which are able to execute those orders faster.

Hindustan Aeronautics, we are not holding because we believe that there is a lot of delay in the execution of orders. For different sectors, different things you have to see, especially for capex, the main thing is execution.
