Stock Market Opening Bell: Indian equity markets opened on a firm note on Thursday, shrugging off mixed global cues as investors tracked sectoral action and key Q2 earnings.
The BSE Sensex jumped 727.81 points to 85,154.15, while the Nifty50 reclaimed the 26,000 mark, opening 188.6 points higher at 26,057.20.
On the BSE, Infosys, HCLTech, and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers, while Bajaj Finserv, Maruti, and Power Grid weighed on the index. On the NSE, Infosys, HCLTech, and Tech Mahindra also led gains, whereas IndiGo, Eicher Motors, and Sun Pharma Life were among the top losers.
Broader markets mirrored the positive trend. The Nifty SmallCap 100 index rose 0.33 per cent, while the Nifty MidCap 100 index gained 0.44 per cent.
Sectorally, the Nifty IT index emerged as the top performer, surging 1.84 per cent, while Nifty Realty lagged, down 0.08 per cent.
Investors are closely watching Q2FY26 earnings today, with major companies including Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Colgate Palmolive (India), Laurus Labs, PTC India Financial Services, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), Fabtech Technologies, Jumbo Bag, Andhra Cements, Sagar Cements, South India Paper Mills, and Vardhman Textiles set to announce results for the July–September quarter.
