Stock Market Opening Bell: Indian equity markets started Wednesday’s session on a positive note, mirroring the upbeat sentiment across global peers.

The BSE Sensex opened 191 points higher at 84,820, while the Nifty 50 climbed 74 points to 26,011, extending the previous session’s gains.

In the broader markets, performance was mixed — the Nifty MidCap index edged up 0.02 per cent, whereas the Nifty SmallCap index slipped 0.28 per cent, reflecting some profit-taking at higher levels.

Among individual stocks, M&M Financial Services surged 6 per cent in early trade on strong quarterly updates, while Nuvama Wealth declined 8 per cent following reports of a large block deal.

Overall, market sentiment remains cautiously optimistic ahead of key global data releases and corporate earnings later this week.
