Stock Market Opening Bell: Markets open flat; Banks and IT stocks gain, Tata Capital IPO opens

Stock Market Opening Bell: Indian stocks opened the week on a slightly positive note on Monday, supported by buying in banking and IT stocks.

The BSE Sensex was trading at 81,283, up 76 points or 0.09 per cent, while the Nifty 50 stood at 24,918, gaining 24 points or 0.10 per cent in early trade.

Top gainers on the Sensex included Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, HCL Tech, TCS, Trent, and Infosys, climbing up to 1 per cent. Broader markets also edged higher, with the Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices up 0.11 per cent and 0.08 per cent, respectively.

In the mainboard segment, the Tata Capital IPO opened for subscription, while Pace Digitek shares made their debut on the bourses.

On the SME front, shares of KVS Castings, Rukmani Devi Garg Agro Impex, M P K Steels (I), Ameenji Rubber, Manas Polymers & Energies, and Bhavik Enterprises will list on the bourses. Meanwhile, IPOs of DSM Fresh Foods, Greenleaf Envirotech, and Shlokka Dyes closed for subscription, marking a busy start to the week for investors.
