Stock Market Opening Bell: Markets open higher: Sensex up 427 points, Nifty50 crosses 25,800;

Indian stock markets opened on a positive note on Wednesday, tracking gains in the Asian markets.

The BSE Sensex started the day around 84,299, up 427 points or 0.51 per cent, while the Nifty50 opened at 25,811, higher by 116 points or 0.45 per cent.

Investors are keeping an eye on the final leg of Q2FY26 earnings and the October 2025 CPI inflation data. On the listing front, the market will focus on the Groww IPO and the Tata Motors CV listing today.

Among large-cap stocks, ONGC, Eternal, Bajaj Finserv, Max Health, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Reliance Industries, Infosys, and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers, rising up to 2 per cent. On the downside, JSW Steel, BEL, Nestle, Bajaj Auto, SBI Life, and Apollo Hospitals led the losses.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index gained 0.37 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index rose 0.38 per cent. Top midcap gainers included BSE (up 6 per cent), Max Financial Services, Oil India, Mphasis, 360One, L&T Finance, and Biocon.

Sectorally, the Nifty IT index added 1 per cent, followed by the Nifty PSU Bank index (up 0.8 per cent), Nifty Financial Services (0.6 per cent), and Nifty Realty (0.5 per cent)
