Stock Market Opening Bell: Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 opened in the red on Wednesday, tracking soft global signals.
The BSE Sensex opened at 81,917.65, down 184.45 points, while the Nifty50 started at 25,108.75, down 60.75 points.
On the BSE, Trent, SBI, and Asian Paints were the top gainers, while Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, and ICICI Bank were the major laggards. On the NSE, Trent, SBI, and ONGC led the gains, whereas Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, and Hero MotoCorp dragged the indices lower.

Broader markets showed a mixed trend. Nifty SmallCap edged up 0.04 per cent, while Nifty MidCap fell 0.05 per cent.
Among sectors, only Nifty PSU Bank rose (0.78 per cent), while all other segments were in the red. Nifty IT led the losses, down 0.7 per cent, followed by Consumer Durables (down 0.6 per cent).
