Stock Market Opening Bell: Sensex slips 128 points, Nifty below 25,400 as profit-taking halts rally

Stock Market Opening Bell: Indian stock markets took a breather on Friday as investors booked profits at higher levels. The BSE Sensex was trading at 82,886, down 128 points or 0.15 per cent in early deals, while the NSE Nifty50 slipped 33 points or 0.13 per cent to 25,391.

Adani Group stocks jumped as much as 8 per cent after the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Thursday closed proceedings against Adani group companies, Group Chairman Gautam Adani, and associated entities in cases related to fund diversion, related-party transactions and fraud allegations.

In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap index edged up 0.25 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index fell 0.13 per cent. Among sectors, Nifty Auto and Nifty Private Bank were the top laggards, down 0.2 per cent each.

On the primary market front, Ivalue Infosolutions IPO (Mainline) and JD Cables IPO (SME) entered Day 2 of their subscriptions, while VMS TMT IPO (Mainline) and Sampat Aluminium IPO (SME) moved into Day 3. Euro Pratik IPO (Mainline) is set for its allotment today, and L T Elevator IPO (SME) will list on the exchanges.
