Stock Market Today: Indian equity markets opened lower on Tuesday, the first Nifty expiry of the year, despite positive global cues and supportive indication from GIFT Nifty futures. Early selling pressure weighed on indices.

The BSE Sensex opened at 85,331.14 and fell further in early deals. At 09:15 am, it was down 142.50 points, or 0.17 per cent, at 85,297.12. The previous close was 85,439.62.

The Nifty 50 also opened weak. It started at 26,189.70 and was trading at 26,189.20, down 61.10 points, or 0.23 per cent. The previous close was 26,250.30.
