The deal is valued at GBP 100.5 million (approximately ₹1,161 crore).

Northern Superchargers reported a turnover of GBP 1.89 million (₹22 crore) in FY24 and is currently profitable.

This acquisition comes at a steep valuation of 53 times revenue, and is expected to close by December 31, 2025.

Strategic implications

With this move, Sun TV is expanding its global footprint in the sports and entertainment space. The company already owns two prominent cricket franchises, Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa's SA20 league.

The addition of Northern Superchargers bolsters its portfolio with a presence in the UK, one of the world’s key cricket markets.

Sun TV said that The Hundred is a growing league with significant potential for future financial returns.

Shares of Sun TV Network Ltd. closed 0.56% lower on Friday at ₹573.20.
