Former India and Chennai Super Kings batter Suresh Raina has said that veteran MS Dhoni likely to play another season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year in 2026. There have been many questions about MSD's retirement with people speculating the 43-year-old will announce his retirement after the IPL 2025. However, his former teammate has confirmed that Dhoni will definitely play the next season for the Chennai Super Kings.

In an interaction with Jatin Sapru on his YouTube channel, Raina said, "I hope that next season, they (CSK) come with better planning. And Dhoni is going to play for one more season, for sure."

At the age of 43, Dhoni is still one of the finest behind the wickets but he been struggling with a knee injury. With the bat, Dhoni has played a few important knocks for CSK this season but that has not helped the team's cause as the batting lineup has struggled.

Dhoni, the legendary captain who has guided CSK to five IPL titles, remains one of India’s most beloved cricketers. Each season, fans pack the stadiums just to catch a glimpse of him, and his return for IPL 2026 is bound to send excitement soaring even higher.

Chennai Super King are currently at the bottom of the points table and their campaign is almost over. CSK have seven losses in their nine games played so far. After the recent loss against SRH at Chepauk, head coach Stephen Fleming said that the problems his team is facing is due to the auction strategy.

“It is hard to say we got it completely right with the performances that we have had. So we have been looking over that in detail just around our style of play. Also looking at how the game is evolving,” Fleming said.

“And it is not easy. And that is why we are proud of our record today. We have been able to be consistent for so long and it doesn’t take much for it to go another way. Other teams have got better and that is the point of the auction. But we just haven’t been able to get it right,” he added.
