Tata Motors appoints Shailesh Chandra as CEO & MD, Dhiman Gupta named CFOThe new CEO will steer Tata Motors as it readies to split its commercial and passenger vehicle businesses into separate units.By Poonam Behura  September 26, 2025, 8:23:55 PM IST (Updated)1 Min ReadTata Motors Ltd on Friday named Shailesh Chandra as chief executive officer and managing director, effective April 2026, and appointed Dhiman Gupta as chief financial officer, as India’s largest automaker by revenue prepares to spin off its commercial and passenger vehicle businesses into separate listed entities.

The appointments follow the National Company Law Tribunal’s approval of Tata Motors’ composite scheme of arrangement, which involves demerging its commercial vehicles business into Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Ltd (TMLCV) and merging TML Business Analytics Services Ltd (TMLBASL) into Tata Motors.

Girish Wagh, currently executive director, will become executive director and CEO of TMLCV post-demerger, the company said.

Along with his new role, Chandra will continue as Managing Director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, the electric vehicle arm and wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, the carmaker said in its statement.

Separately, the company said P B Balaji has resigned as Group Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel, effective November 17, 2025.

The restructuring is aimed at sharpening strategic focus, improving capital allocation and unlocking shareholder value, Tata Motors said in a statement.
