Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Ltd (TMCVL), the newly demerged arm of Tata Motors Ltd, made its stock market debut on Tuesday, November 12, 2025, with a strong listing at Rs 330.25 per share, significantly higher than the indicative price of Rs 302.90 and well above the pre-demerged estimated valuation of Rs 260–Rs 270 per share.

The stock opened at Rs 330.25 on both the BSE and NSE and remained firm at the same level during the early trade, indicating positive investor sentiment towards the standalone commercial vehicle business. With this listing, Tata Motors has completed the separation of its passenger and commercial vehicle divisions into two independent listed entities.

As per exchange data, TMCVL will trade under the ticker symbol ‘TMCVL’ in the ‘T’ group of securities, meaning it will be in the trade-for-trade segment for the first ten sessions to ensure a smooth price discovery process.

Following the listing, Tata Motors CV commands a market capitalisation of Rs 1,23,873.63 crore, reflecting strong investor interest in the automotive giant’s standalone commercial vehicle business.

For the first ten trading sessions, it will remain in the trade-for-trade segment to ensure orderly price discovery.

The Tata Motors demerger officially took effect on October 1, 2025, with the record date set for October 14, 2025. Under the arrangement, over 368 crore equity shares with a face value of Rs 2 each were issued to Tata Motors shareholders. The separation created two independent listed entities — one focused on passenger vehicles and electric mobility, and the other on commercial vehicles.

The restructuring is expected to bring strategic clarity, enhance operational agility, and help each business attract investor interest based on its distinct growth prospects.

Ahead of the listing, analysts had valued Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle arm between Rs 260 and Rs 270 per share, based on the pre-demerger Tata Motors closing price of Rs 660.75. The indicative listing price of Rs 302.90 points to a positive market response and a premium opening for TMCVL shares.

Meanwhile, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV) began trading as a standalone entity on October 14, at around Rs 400 per share post record-date adjustment. TMPV shares have remained steady since, recently trading near Rs 411 per share.
