Built over two and a half years, the project uses advanced DCR cells and bifacial modules and required the installation of around 7.75 lakh solar panels across harsh desert terrain. It is expected to supply the entire output to the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL), generating an estimated 17,230 million units of green energy over its lifetime.
TPREL said the project overcame extreme temperatures and difficult vehicle movement through precision ramming and heat-resistant inverters tailored for the conditions. More than 300 local workers were employed, alongside the development of local vendors.
The commissioning adds to TPREL’s expanding third-party project portfolio, which now exceeds 4.9 GW, while its total renewable utility capacity has reached 11.6 GW, of which 5.8 GW is operational. Another 5.8 GW is under implementation and scheduled to come online over the next two years.
