Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is scheduled to meet top executives of India’s leading telecom companies today in a TSP courtesy meeting. The discussions are expected to cover key industry issues, including AGR, 6G technology, satellite internet, ‘We Ahead’ initiatives, indigenisation, and overall sector growth.
The meeting will see Akash Ambani representing Reliance Jio and Akshay Mundra from Vodafone Idea. This will be the first interaction between the minister and Vodafone Idea since the government showed flexibility following the Supreme Court ruling on AGR dues, under which Vodafone Idea received relief on payment timelines for accumulated statutory dues.
Officials say the discussion is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the government and telecom service providers while charting the path for next-generation technologies and the expansion of digital infrastructure in India. The minister is expected to address regulatory clarity, sectoral challenges, and support for indigenous technology development.
The meeting comes at a time when the telecom sector is navigating regulatory pressures, evolving technology standards, and competition, alongside the need for investment in 6G and satellite internet infrastructure. Analysts expect the discussions to provide guidance on policy direction and signal the government’s intent to balance sector growth with financial sustainability for telecom operators.
