American electric carmaker Tesla launched its first supercharging station in Mumbai today, August 4. This comes weeks after the company kicked off its operations in India. It opened its first showroom in Mumbai last month.
In July 2025, Tesla Model Y launched in India at Rs 61,00,000 to compete with half-priced EVs. Inside, under bright LEDs and a persistent hum of curiosity, stood the Model Y — the compact crossover that has propped up the company’s global sales for three straight years. Indian customers, however, will have to dig deeper than anyone else on the planet to own one: the rear‑wheel‑drive version carries a sticker of Rs 61 lakh (roughly seventy thousand US dollars), almost double its American price.
