The India-US relationship has been strained after Trump imposed tariffs totalling 50 per cent on the export of Indian goods to the US.

The heavy tariff was the result of two consecutive 25 per cent tariffs imposed due to India's continuous purchase of oil from Russia, which the US viewed as undermining Western efforts to isolate Russia over its Ukraine invasion.
