Director Tharun Moorthy, whose new film Thudarum continues to storm the theatres in Kerala, has already announced his next film! Named Torpedo, the Malayalam film is set to feature actor Fahadh Faasil and Premalu breakout star Naslen. The news has already caused a huge buzz amongst fans and members of the film fraternity.

Tharun Moorthy announced the title and cast details of the film on May 1 via his social media profiles by releasing the official poster and some of the key members of the crew. Bankrolled by Ashiq Usman, Torpedo has some solid technicians like music director Sushin Shyam and cinematographer Jimshi Khalid. Arjun Das and Ganapathi have played a key role in the film.

The announcement has led to an outpouring of fire emojis and congrats online, as the yet-untitled film is a first-time collaboration between Tharun Moorthy and Fahadh Faasil, one of Malayalam cinema's most versatile actors. With the thrusting-in of Naslen, who has stolen the hearts of youngsters after Premalu, the film is turning out to be a “dream combo”, say the fans.

Moorthy who made his directorial debut with Thudarum, is making a statement by saying Torpedo, while Thudarum is running successfully in theaters. Starring Mohanlal and Shobana, Thudarum was released on 25th April 2025 and it did more than 100 crores at the worldwide box office. While Mohanlal’s redo look seems to be going down well with the audience, the resurgence of the good-old vintage Mohanlal has received all-round applause and the celebratory promo song “Kondattam” featuring Mohanlal and Shobana was unveiled recently.

Before Thudarum, the director had garnered critical appraisal with Saudi Vellakka which won a National Award, and had a striking debut with the tech-crime drama Operation Java.
