A special Delhi court has declared UK-based arms consultant Sanjay Bhandari a fugitive economic offender under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The order was passed on a plea filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating Bhandari in connection with alleged money laundering and defence-related irregularities.

Bhandari, who is currently based in the United Kingdom, is accused of financial misconduct and has repeatedly failed to appear before Indian authorities despite multiple summons. This declaration empowers Indian authorities to initiate confiscation of Bhandari’s properties and assets, both in India and abroad, linked to the alleged offences. The move marks a major step in the ongoing investigations into economic offenders operating from foreign jurisdictions.
