Record date for this proposed dividend payout has been fixed as Friday, March 27.
Vedanta's board has already paid dividends worth ₹23 per share to its shareholders for financial year 2026, which included a first interim payout of ₹7 per share, on June 18, 2025. That had entailed a total payout of over ₹2,400 crore for the company, while the second interim payout, announced in August, was for ₹16 per share, and led to an outgo of over ₹6,200 crore.
Promoter Vedanta Resources continues to retain majority stake in the Indian listed entity, which is set for a demerger into five separate ones. Vedanta Resources currently owns 56.38% stake in the Indian listed entity.
As of the December quarter, Vedanta Ltd. had 19.75 lakh small retail shareholders, or those with authorized share capital of up to ₹2 lakh. These shareholders held a 11.2% stake in the company. Foreign institutions held 12.5%, LIC had close to 5% stake, while India's Mutual Funds, held a 8.4% stake in the company at the end of the December quarter.
In a note on January 30 this year, brokerage firm Citi had raised its target on Vedanta to ₹900 per share, and had projected a dividend payout of ₹40 apiece for financial year 2026. With ₹23 per share having already being paid, based on Citi's estimates, another ₹17 per share worth of dividends are in the offing for Vedanta's shareholders.
Shares of Vedanta Ltd. ended 0.3% higher on Friday at ₹667.3. The stock is down 13% from its recent record high levels of ₹769.8, but is still higher by 11% on a year-to-date basis.Continue ReadingTagsVedantaVedanta Share PriceVedanta shares
