The company announced on Monday, March 23, it has launched an innovation lab, as part of the Wipro Innovation Network (WIN) and a bigger office in the country's capital city Seoul.
The expansion also includes continued investment in local talent and partnerships with academic institutions, as Wipro looks to strengthen its ability to serve South Korean clients both locally and globally.
“South Korea is a strategic growth market for Wipro and an increasingly important centre of global innovation. Our expanded presence reflects our long-term commitment to the region,” said Vinay Firake, CEO of Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) Strategic Market Unit at Wipro.
With this launch, Wipro now operates nine innovation facilities globally, including five in the APMEA region. The new Seoul innovation lab will focus on co-creating solutions in areas such as intelligent product engineering, software-defined vehicles, smart manufacturing and supply-chain optimisation, the company said.
“By strengthening local capabilities, connecting Korea more deeply into our global delivery and innovation network, and co-innovating closely with clients, we aim to help enterprises translate innovation into measurable business outcomes,” he added.
South Korea has emerged as a key innovation hub across semiconductors, automotive engineering and advanced manufacturing, with rising demand for AI-led digital transformation. Wipro said its expanded footprint will help clients tap into its global delivery network while maintaining local engagement.
The move builds on Wipro’s acquisition of HARMAN’s digital transformation solutions (DTS) unit last year, which added over 5,000 professionals and strengthened its engineering and digital capabilities, with South Korea playing a key role in its global operations.
Shares of the company closed ₹188.19 apiece, down 1.24% on Monday, March 23.
