Punjab Kings cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal was delighted after getting the bat of when Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni. However, his joy was cut short as teammate Glenn Maxwell trolled him. Interestingly, Chahal has not faced a single delivery in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season as Punjab have been using him as an impact substitute.

Chahal made his India debut under MS Dhoni's captaincy and the legendary cricketer handed the spinner another prized possession. The PBKS spinner walked into the dressing room beaming with excitement, proudly holding Dhoni's bat, while Glenn Maxwell sat nearby, deep in conversation with Priyansh Arya.

Maxwell couldn’t resist teasing his teammate after learning that Chahal had received Dhoni’s bat, joking that he’s usually the one subbed out during batting to bring in a specialist.

"You get subbed out in every game," said Maxwell.

Young opener Priyansh Arya, also in the room, quipped to Chahal that some kid from the Haryana team would end up taking the bat from him.

"Some kid in Haryana is going to take this bat for sure," joked Priyansh.

After a slow start to the season, Chahal bounced back in form in the later half of the season. He has made life difficult for the batters. So far, Chahal has taken nine wickets in nine matches played so far. He is now set to feature in the clash against the Chennai Super Kings.

Chahal, the leading wicket-taker in IPL history, has been mentoring the young players in the squad, offering valuable tips on handling opposition spinners.

Both Prabhsimran and Priyansh acknowledged that his guidance played a crucial role in their performance against KKR.

"Yuzi bhaiya came to me before the start of the match and explained to me how the wicket will be behaving on the day. It helped me because I am not the best in reading the tracks," Priyansh said as quoted by the Punjab Kings press release.

Prabhsimran further added: "Before the match, Yuzi paaji told me that I am contributing well with 30-35 runs at the top. He told me that the ball will spin on the track, and hence I should take my time in adjusting to the conditions. So, I took my time initially and it helped me later on to play my shots. All thanks to Yuzi paaji."
