After being awarded the coveted Padma Bhushan in January 2025, Ajith Kumar will now personally receive the honour from Indian President Droupadi Murmu on April 28, 2025, at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. It has been confirmed by reports that the actor has already travelled to the national capital for the event, accompanied by his wife Shalini and their kids.

After receiving this esteemed honour on January 25, Ajith posted a sincere message on X (formerly Twitter) expressing his sincere gratitude.

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Award by the President of India," Ajith wrote. "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for this prestigious honour. It is a privilege to be recognised at such a level and I am truly grateful for this generous acknowledgement of my contributions to our nation."

He also expressed that this award was not only a personal achievement but a reflection of collective efforts. “This recognition is not just a personal accolade but a testament to the collective efforts and support of many,” he continued. “I would like to express my sincere thanks to the members of the film industry, including my distinguished seniors, various peers, and untold others. Your inspiration, collaboration, and support have been instrumental in my journey, including the pursuit of my passion in other areas as well."

Ajith also took the opportunity to thank the motor racing and shooting communities, which have supported him throughout his career. “I am also grateful for the kind support, over the years, of the motor racing fraternity and the sports pistol and rifle shooting community," he said, giving a special thanks to organisations like the Madras Motor Sports Club and the National Rifle Association of India.

In a deeply emotional part of his note, Ajith expressed his gratitude towards his family, particularly his mother, and paid tribute to his late father. “To my family and friends: Your love and support have been both a refuge and a source of strength. Thank you! I wish my late father had lived to see this day. Yet, I like to think he would be proud that his spirit and legacy live on in all that I do.”

For Ajith Kumar, the next week is going to be a double celebration. He will receive the Padma Bhushan on April 28 and celebrate his birthday on May 1st, which is just a few days later.

Ajith has also been active in the racing world, recently securing second place at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. He has achieved victories in three races at the 24H Racing Series, competing in Dubai, Italy, Portugal, and Belgium.

139 people were recognised by the 2025 Padma Awards, of whom seven received the Padma Vibhushan, 19 the Padma Bhushan, and 113 the Padma Shri. These honours highlight the contributions of people in a variety of industries and celebrate excellence in a range of disciplines, including social work, medicine, science, and the arts.
