Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced discounts of up to Rs 1.29 lakh on its entry-level cars like Wagon R, Swift, Grand Vitara, Brezza, Dzire, etc. in India. The new prices will be effective from September 22, 2025.

The development comes after the GST Council approved a series of tax rate cuts on items ranging from essential consumables to automobiles.

The highest discount offered by the automaker will be available on the S-Presso, i.e. up to Rs 129,600. While the lowest discount is on the Jimny, which is up to Rs 51,900

Maruti Suzuki to pass on full benefit of GST 2.0 rate cut to customers

"With effect from 22nd September 2025, the Company will pass on the full benefit of the recent reduction in GST rates on automobiles to customers, in line with the revised GST regulations taking effect on that date," the company said in a release.

The GST Council has announced a slew of changes in taxes across several industries, with the broad rate for automobiles cut by 10 percentage points to 18 per cent.

Here are five major changes in the GST 2.0 rationalisation drive:

Petrol and petrol hybrid, LPG, and CNG passenger cars below 1200 cc in the sub-4 metre category will now attract a 1,000-basis-point lower GST of 18 per cent

Diesel and diesel hybrid cars below 1500 cc in the sub-4 metre category will also be taxed at 18 per cent, instead of 28 per cent

Three-wheelers will be taxed at 18 per cent instead of 28 per cent

Motorcycles up to 350 cc will be taxed at 18 per cent instead of 28 per cent

Goods vehicles will also attract an 18 per cent levy instead of 28 per cent
