The buyback will cover more than 500 current and former employees.
The move is aimed at providing liquidity for employees who hold stock options in the company. CoinDCX said the buyback includes former employees in recognition of their contributions to the company’s growth.
Sumit Gupta, Co-founder of CoinDCX, highlighted that the buyback is intended to provide tangible value to employees and reflects the company’s approach to ownership-driven culture.
Founded in 2018 in Mumbai, CoinDCX has expanded its user base to over 2 crore across India and the UAE. The company has also extended its operations internationally through the acquisition of Dubai-based BitOasis in the MENA region, which later expanded into Bahrain in 2025.
The ESOP buyback marks one of the largest liquidity events by a cryptocurrency exchange in India. Analysts say such moves can help retain talent and provide employees with financial returns on their long-term contributions.
CoinDCX operates under the DCX Group, which encompasses multiple entities across India and international markets, including ventures in Web3 and digital wallets.
