Indian Navy on Sunday announced that its warships deployed in the Arabian Sea conducted multiple anti-ship missile firings recently.

The Navy said that the firings were carried out to revalidate and demonstrate the readiness of platforms, systems and crew for long-range precision offensive strike.

"#IndianNavy stands #CombatReady #Credible and #FutureReady in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests Anytime Anywhere Anyhow," Indian Navy posted on X.

The test comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 civilians.

Earlier, the Indian Navy's warship, INS Surat, successfully test-fired the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MR-SAM) air defense system in the Arabian Sea. This test occurred ahead of the Pakistan Navy's scheduled surface-to-surface missile testing in the same region. The MR-SAM is highly effective against surface-to-surface missiles and other aerial threats.

"#IndianNavy's latest indigenous guided missile destroyer, #INSSurat, successfully carried out a precision cooperative engagement of a sea-skimming target, marking another milestone in strengthening our defense capabilities," the Indian Navy posted on X.

INS Surat, the fourth and final ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, ranks among the largest and most advanced destroyers globally. With 75% indigenous content, it is equipped with cutting-edge weapon-sensor systems and advanced network-centric capabilities.

Earlier, the Indian Naval Ships INS Chennai and INS Kesari sailed from Dar es Salaam after successfully completing the maiden edition of the AIKEYME exercise. The ships departed on April 19, as confirmed in an official statement by the Indian Navy.
