The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has handed over a list of around 5,000 Pakistani nationals residing in the national capital to the Delhi Police to facilitate their return to Pakistan.

The move comes following a recent directive from the central government, issued in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on tourists in the Pahalgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) shared the list with the Special Branch of the Delhi Police, which subsequently forwarded it to the concerned district authorities for verification and identification.

The list includes names of Hindu Pakistani nationals who hold Long Term Visas (LTVs) and are exempt from the order.

"The list has been handed over to the concerned districts for verification, and the Pakistani nationals have been instructed to return to their homeland. The Central and North East districts have a particularly high concentration of Pakistani nationals," a senior official said.

The official further noted that a meeting was convened to address the situation, and the Delhi Police has been directed to act promptly. Senior officers are closely monitoring the developments.

Officers from the Special Branch and the Intelligence Bureau have been tasked with gathering detailed information about Pakistani nationals currently residing in Delhi and ensuring they depart at the earliest.

Another official confirmed that two separate lists — one containing 3,000 names and the other 2,000 — have been received. There is some overlap between the lists, and verification is ongoing, as many Pakistani nationals may have already left the country.

On Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued an order revoking visas for Pakistani nationals, effective April 27, 2025, except for those holding Medical, Diplomatic, and Long-Term Visas.

Existing medical visas will also become invalid after April 29, 2025. However, the government later clarified that LTVs already granted to Hindu Pakistani nationals will remain valid.

According to estimates, approximately 900 Pakistani nationals are living near Majnu Ka Tila and another 600–700 near the Signature Bridge area.
