Pahalgam terror attack: Houses of nine terrorists blown up in major crackdown

Published on 27/04/2025 09:11 AM

In a continued crackdown following the April 22 deadly Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, the Jammu and Kashmir authorities have demolished the residences of two more suspected terrorists, including a member of Jaish-e-Mohammed.

The latest demolitions bring the total number of houses destroyed in the last 72 hours to nine.

As part of the wide-scale crackdown against terror, the homes of two active terrorists were destroyed in controlled explosions. These include the residence of Jameel Ahmed Sheer Gojri, a terrorist from Naaz Colony, Bandipora, who has been active since 2016, and Amir Nazir Wani, a Jaish-e-Mohammed affiliate from Khasipora, Tral in Pulwama, who joined terrorist activities in 2024.

Additionally, the residence of Farooq Ahmad Tadwa, a resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, located in the Kalaroos area of Kupwara, was bombed by security forces on Saturday eveningAccording to officials, similar measures will continue against those involved in terror-related activities.

These operations are aimed at seize weapons, documents, digital devices, and other materials to aid evidence collection, intelligence gathering, and to prevent further conspiratorial or terrorist activities.

“This decisive action by the J&K Police is intended to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir by identifying and taking legal action against individuals engaged in anti-national and criminal activities,” the spokesperson said, reaffirming the commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.

The police also warned that any individual found promoting violence, disruption, or unlawful activities would face strict legal action under the law.

Security forces are aggressively pursuing terrorist associates and sympathisers throughout the Valley to create a strong deterrence against attacks similar to the Pahalgam incident, an official stated.

On Tuesday, terrorists opened fire at Baisaran, killing 26 people, mostly tourists from other parts of India.

The attack has sharply escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowing that the perpetrators would be pursued "to the ends of the earth."

Authorities also blew up the houses of two active terrorists — Aadil Thoker in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag district, and Asif Sheikh in the Tral area of Pulwama district — following raids on Thursday night.

Thoker is reportedly one of the three terrorists directly involved in the Pahalgam attack, while Sheikh’s involvement has not been ruled out, officials said.

Additionally, on Friday night, four more houses of alleged terrorists were demolished across the Pulwama, Shopian, Kupwara, and Kulgam districts.

Security forces have also detained hundreds of overground workers (OGWs) and sympathisers, mainly from south Kashmir districts, to track down the perpetrators behind the deadly attack.
