Pakistani troops once again violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, triggering a swift and sharp response from Indian Army personnel, officials said on Sunday.

According to official sources, Pakistani forces opened unprovoked small arms fire late on the intervening night of April 26 and 27, targeting Indian positions opposite the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors.

This marks the third consecutive night of ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the sensitive border.

Indian troops stationed in the region responded "effectively and appropriately" to the firing, ensuring that no infiltration attempts could be masked under the cover of gunfire, the officials added.

"The Indian Army remains vigilant and fully prepared to safeguard the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity," an official statement noted.

The renewed tensions along the LoC come amid heightened security across Jammu and Kashmir following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

Security forces have been maintaining a tight vigil, and additional deployments have been made in several vulnerable sectors to prevent any escalation.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or injuries on the Indian side.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
