PIB fact check debunks fake claim of 10 explosions around Srinagar airport in J&K

The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) debunked another fake claim by AJEnglish, claiming that there have been about 10 explosions around Srinagar airport in J&K.

In a post on X, the Fact Check Unit stated that this claim is "FAKE". The PIB further stated, Rely only on official sources for authentic information. Do not fall for these false claims intended to mislead and cause confusion.

In the fake image circulated by the AJEnglish, claiming about 10 explosions around Srinagar airport in J&K, mentioned - There have been about 10 explosions around Srinagar airport in Indian-administered Kashmir, reports the Reuters news agency, citing local officials. The fake image by AJEnglish has also provided a link for follow-up story regarding the same. 

According to PIB Fact Check, this claim is fake.

Earlier, the Fact Check Unit had also clarified that claims on social media about a fake viral image being circulated, claiming that an advisory has been issued, advising people to turn off location services on their phones immediately.

In a post on X, the Fact Check Unit stated that this claim is "FAKE"; no such advisory has been issued by the Government of India.

This comes amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the Indian Army launched precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on May 7.

The attack targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), according to Indian officials.

The strikes were aimed at infrastructure linked to terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The operation was carried out in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 innocent civilians.
