Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd on Monday, December 22, approved the acquisition of the automotive wiring harness business of Nexans autoelectric GmbH and Elektrokontact GmbH through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary in a deal valued at €207 million.

The acquisition will be executed through Motherson Global Investments BV (MGI BV), an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Samvardhana Motherson, which will acquire the business, select real estate assets and shares in the overseas subsidiaries of Nexans autoelectric and Elektrokontact GmbH, collectively referred to as Autoelectric.

Autoelectric is a nearly 60-year-old global manufacturer of automotive wiring harnesses for both passenger and commercial vehicles, with capabilities spanning low- and high-voltage applications. The business reported revenues of €749 million in calendar year 2024, stated the exchange filing.

The overall enterprise value of the acquisition has been fixed at €207 million on a cash- and debt-free basis.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the first quarter of FY27.

Looking at acquisitions this year, Samvardhana Motherson has remained active on the inorganic growth front.

Turkey units brought under 100% ownership

In September 2025, the company completed the acquisition of the remaining 25% stake in its two Turkish subsidiaries, SMR Plast Met Molds and Tools Turkey Kalip Imalat Anonim Şirketi and SMR Plast Met Automotive Tec Turkey Plastik Imalat Anonim Şirketi, thereby consolidating full ownership of the entities.

The transaction was executed through Motherson SAS Turkey Otomotiv Servis Ticaret LTd Sirketi, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary.

$184 million Japan bet

Earlier this year, in August, the company approved the acquisition of an 81% stake in Japan’s Yutaka Giken Co Ltd and an 11% stake in Shinnichi Kogyo Co Ltd through Motherson Global Investments BV, with the transaction valued at $184 million. Yutaka Giken, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, holds a 62% stake in Shinnichi Kogyo.

Shares of Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd ended marginally lower on Monday, December 22, by 0.07% at ₹120.90 on the NSE.
