Markets ended higher for the second straight session, with all major indices closing in the green amid steady buying in select heavyweights. The Nifty finished above the 25,700 mark, led by gains in L&T, Infosys, ITC, SBI and Adani Ports.
The Sensex rose 174 points to close at 83,451, while the Nifty added 43 points to end at 25,725. Broader markets outperformed benchmarks, with the Midcap index gaining 159 points to 59,882. Nifty Bank advanced 225 points to 61,174, as PSU banks extended yesterday’s rally and climbed over 2% in trade.
IT stocks remained volatile through the session, tracking global developments around artificial intelligence, even as overall market breadth stayed firmly in favour of advances.
