Indian stock markets are headed for a shortened trading calendar over the next two weeks, with three holidays lined up that will keep bourses closed.

It will thus lead to a truncated trading schedule on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).Trading will remain suspended on March 26 (Thursday) on account of Shri Ram Navami. This will be followed by another market holiday on March 31 (Tuesday) for Shri Mahavir Jayanti.

The following week will also see a trading halt on April 3 (Friday) for Good Friday, leading to a long weekend for market participants.

March 26, 2026 (Thursday) – Shri Ram Navami

March 31, 2026 (Tuesday) – Shri Mahavir Jayanti

April 3, 2026 (Friday) – Good Friday

On all three days, trading across equity, equity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments will remain closed. Normal trading activity will resume on the next working day after each holiday.

This comes amid a highly volatile time in stock movements, as the markets have reacted strongly to various statements and speculations about the ongoing war in West Asia.

So even as the Indian markets will remain closed, the US and Asian markets will facilitate trading per usual; sentiments and stock movements there are also likely to impact trader activities on Indian bourses.
