Stock to Watch: Waaree Energies shares gain after Rs 269 crore solar value-chain deal via US arm

Shares of Waaree Energies were back in focus on Monday after the renewable energy major announced a strategic overseas investment aimed at strengthening its solar value chain. The stock ended 1.21 per cent higher at Rs 3,062 on the BSE, after touching an intra-day high of Rs 3,085, as investors reacted positively to the development.

Waaree Energies said it has decided to invest around Rs 269 crore in United Solar Holding (USH) through its wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Solar Americas Inc. As part of the transaction, the company will acquire nearly 5.37 million Series-B preferred shares of USH via the Cayman Islands. Post the investment, Waaree’s stake in USH is expected to remain below 5 per cent, though the exact holding has not been disclosed.

The company aims to complete the transaction by the end of January 2026, subject to customary approvals and closing conditions.

In a regulatory filing, Waaree Energies said that Waaree Solar Americas Inc signed a binding term sheet with United Solar Holding on December 18, 2025, for subscribing to Series-B preferred shares worth nearly USD 30 million. The investment will be executed once standard conditions associated with international transactions are fulfilled.

A key aspect of the deal is Waaree’s indirect exposure to USH’s polysilicon manufacturing facility in Oman. The plant has an annual capacity of around 100 kilo tonnes per annum and can support polysilicon requirements for nearly 40 GW of solar modules.

This is expected to support Waaree’s 10 GW wafer and ingot manufacturing unit in Nagpur, helping the company secure a reliable supply of a critical raw material.

Waaree Energies said the investment will support its expanding footprint in the US and other global markets. The Oman polysilicon facility is close to commissioning and is expected to ramp up to full capacity within a year, which could help Waaree meet rising global solar demand over the medium term.

With this move, the company continues to deepen its presence across the solar manufacturing value chain, reinforcing its long-term growth strategy in the renewable energy space.
