Union Budget 2026-27 focuses on growth, jobs and long-term reforms: FM Sitharaman

The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared on Sunday that the Union Budget 2026–27 has been developed to accelerate economic growth while generating employment opportunities across various economic sectors.

The government intends to establish a robust system which will deliver productivity enhancements and employment sustainability through its permanent development programs.

The Finance Minister stated that the Budget aims to sustain economic growth by supporting ongoing economic development efforts.

The Budget introduces structural reforms which will establish an advantageous business atmosphere that benefits companies and industries and workers while driving technological advancement and societal development.

The government wants to achieve growth which will reach all people throughout society according to her statement.

Sitharaman identified the Budget as its primary biopharma commitment through its essential elements. India plans to invest Rs 10,000 crore over the next five years to enhance its position as a worldwide biopharmaceuticals leader.

The funding objectives will advance sector research and innovation efforts which will enable India to maintain its global competitiveness through operational and export activities.

The Finance Minister demonstrated that Budget 2026-27 provides equal funding for healthcare services.

The government has increased health spending to enhance both physical and mental healthcare programs according to her statement.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare received a budget increase which totals Rs 1,06,530.42 crore and exceeds the previous financial year's revised estimate by almost 10 per cent. The government plans to develop a healthcare system which delivers better services while being more accessible to people.

The Budget wants to establish one lakh Allied Health Professionals as part of health programs which will work from two thousand twenty-six until two thousand thirty.

The professionals will receive training in optometry radiology anaesthesia and other essential medical fields through ten distinct educational programs. The government also plans to establish additional emergency and trauma care facilities throughout the nation.

This year mental health receives focused development. The Finance Minister announced that NIMHANS-style mental health facilities will be built to enhance mental health services for the public.

The Budget will establish 1.5 lakh caregivers who will provide elder care services through programs which follow National Skills Qualifications Framework requirements to enhance both elder care and job development.

The Indian defence corridors, which will serve as a model for success, will enable the government to establish rare earth corridors. The projects will enable India to develop its strategic and industrial capabilities.

The Finance Minister described this Budget as historic because it represents the first Budget which will take place during the second quarter of the 21st century and it helps India achieve its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The government maintains its dedication to achieving the vision of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" according to her statement.

Sitharaman explained that states with upcoming elections received no special treatment because the government faces criticism for its choices while the Budget prioritizes national needs instead of political matters.
